Core action reference

Control prompts can differ between keyboard, Xbox-style pads and PlayStation pads. The table identifies the action you need to locate without publishing an unverified universal button layout.

Action groupActions to verifyWhy it matters
DefenseHarden, dodge/sprint, guard or parry, lock-onThese need immediate, conflict-free access.
Primary weaponLight attack, heavy attack, weapon abilityTest recovery and Harden during commitment.
SidearmAim or target, fire, change equipped toolShots consume Resolve and require sight lines.
WorldInteract, jump or traversal action, item useNeeded for Beacons, gates and pickups.
InterfaceInventory, map, pause, previous/next itemKeep these away from emergency combat inputs.

Open Settings and capture your own layout before changing it. That baseline prevents a failed remap from becoming a memory problem.

A safe remapping process

  1. Write down or screenshot the current mapping and connected input device.
  2. Move the highest-pressure action first, usually dodge, Harden or parry.
  3. Check for a direct conflict and for a contextual conflict that appears only near an interactable object.
  4. Test movement, one common enemy, one item use and one sidearm shot.
  5. Change the next action only after the first mapping feels stable.

Do not remap a complete layout immediately before a boss. Muscle memory needs a low-risk route. On PC, disconnect duplicate controllers if prompts switch unexpectedly; on console, distinguish game-level mapping from system-level accessibility remapping.

Camera and framing test

Use a fixed landmark and a familiar enemy. Record the current camera option, sensitivity, aspect ratio and platform. Change only one camera setting, return to the same location and compare how easily you can see the character, edge threats and the enemy's attacking limb.

Do not report a numeric FOV unless the current menu presents one. A named camera style, an ultrawide adjustment and an actual field-of-view value are different claims. Third-party PC tools are mods, not official features; back up saves and confirm patch compatibility before using them.

Accessibility and comfort

Separate visual comfort from performance. Motion blur, camera sensitivity, screen shake, vignette effects, subtitles and contrast can affect different players in different ways. Check the current menu for each option because platform and patch coverage may differ.

Make one adjustment, play a short calm route, then test a familiar fight. If discomfort continues, stop the session instead of forcing adaptation. A guide can provide a repeatable test but cannot diagnose an individual medical or vision condition.

Input troubleshooting

  • Restart the game after changing device or platform-level mappings.
  • On PC, remove duplicate virtual controllers and test wired input if prompts flicker.
  • Restore defaults if an interaction prompt disappears after a remap.
  • Include platform, device, game version and reproduction steps in a support report.
  • Do not assume a layout screenshot from beta or another platform matches the released build.
